Our Story

In 2016, Nathan Robbins opened Appalachian Slab Co. Woodworking + Hardwoods in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The fledgling Appalachian Slab Co. Woodworking + Hardwoods was a "hobby-turned-business" with humble roots.

A willing family member's spare garage bay served as the shop's first location. This one garage bay quickly filled with lumber, wood slabs, and woodworking tools and eventually expanded into two garage bays.

In 2022, after 6 years of growth, Appalachian Slab Co. Woodworking + Hardwoods outgrew it's original home and moved to it's current woodshop location at 770 Whitestone Road in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The company has since evolved into a family-owned and operated small business, with three generations of Robbins family members still running the day-to-day operations.

The Robbins' family pastime of woodworking fuels the passion to
serve woodworkers, wood lovers, and other "wood-preneurs" in the upstate of South Carolina and beyond. Click this red-highlighted SERVICES button to see all of the shop services now offered!
Appalachian Slab Co. Woodworking + Hardwoods gives wood the chance to become eternalized. Ourselves being sawyers and woodworkers, we seek to give trees a second life through woodworking.

Our location in the southern Appalachian region provides an abundance of native hardwood tree species, which provide woodworkers with a plethora of stunning options for lumber and wood slabs.

We have "planted our roots" in the woodworking industry and community, and we hope to serve you one day! Whether you need a unique wood slab, quality hardwood lumber, or perhaps a quote for a custom project, we welcome all! Come visit us!
